Although a small group with only eight members the Friday Group has enjoyed some good times of Bible study, fellowship and prayer. In the first year of its existence we studied First and Second Thessalonians, in the second year the Gospel of Luke and during the third year just ending we have been doing a series entitled The Making of a Man of God - Incidents in the Life of David.
It has been rewarding to follow David's development. Taking him from the humblest beginnings God elevated him to be king over the people of Israel. On the way he had many ups and downs, good times and bad, good actions and sinful actions, from which he learned a lot and kept returning to his God. It was highly significant that the Holy Spirit came upon him in power at his anointing by Samuel when he was chosen as the new king and was with him, we are told from then on. Many of the hardships and the trials that he endured were allowed by God to fashion him into the great man he was to become - so great in fact that Jesus the Messiah was from David's line.
For the last year we used 'The Purpose Driven Life' as the basis for our study. In 2006 we started to study Paul's letter to the Ephesians.
